Designing for the next-gen entrepreneur
Social media is now the place to market a new business, and Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok offer a platform for entrepreneurs to test out their idea. Whether businesses sell online or in-person, it's now more important than ever to be tech-savvy and reach wider audiences through digital tools. For these next-gen entrepreneurs, new venture ideas call for new business strategies.
How it started
The Mobile Ventures team realized that we were experimenting without defined goals that fulfilled the needs of our next-gen entrepreneur audience. We set aside 10 weeks from October to December to develop a vision that strongly aligned with our values and the desires of our unique customer base. We collaborated closely with Product partners, Content, UX Research, and Engineering teams so that our ideas, although ambitious, were in scope for the next year.
What I did
Shaped entrepreneur personas and story.
Defined core framework and screens for Landing, Sign-In, Onboarding, & Home.
Prototyped end-to-end flows for personas and their early, growing, and mature user states.

Who I designed for
Sarah is a dreamer eager to test out her idea for a kimchi business. She wants to start small by selling to her friends and family.
Julie is a solopreneur who is already selling ceramic pieces to restaurants. She wants to develop her own personal practice and sell unique pieces.
Identifying priorities
From talks with the product and research teams, we aligned on key initiatives, such as a personalized home experience, a robust website builder, pay links, commerce features, and a brand kit complete with a logo maker. We wanted to evolve Studio, a simple content-creation app, into an all-in-one business management and creation app.

I led the re-design of the Landing & Sign-In pages, and developed core features and principles behind Home and Onboarding, such as the Monthly Review, and personalized templates and recommendations.
Landing & Sign-In
Julie is welcomed by a dynamic landing screen. She signs in through socials, effortlessly and with one tap.
Set Up
Once Julie lands on her home feed, she can explore the app at her own pace, with ways to get set up.

Onboarding
When Julie indicates that she is ready to get set up and wants personalized content, she answers questions about her business goals and brand style.

For You
As Studio learns more about Julie and her business, the "For You" page populates with metrics, customized templates, and recommended next steps.

Discover
The "Discover" page features creator tips, social post templates, inspiration, and popular features, all to motivate Julie to create and grow.

Monthly Review
We summarize Julie's business growth in a monthly review, celebrating milestones and motivating her to keep building.
