Studio Onboarding & Home

Redesigning onboarding and the home feed for GoDaddy Studio to create a faster, more intuitive path from sign-up to first creative action.

Early experiments showed measurable lifts in core engagement metrics, which gave our team the confidence to push toward more personalized user experiences and unify around a singular sign-in vision.

First impressions are important

Our landing page needed a refresh to better reflect the Studio brand. I introduced a carousel with dynamic hover states and parallax animations, partnered with our UX Writer to sharpen messaging, and streamlined onboarding so users could dive in faster and more intuitively.

Okay, sign me up!

Once a user is ready to go, the next step is one of the hardest - asking them to create an account. While social logins helped speed things up, I proposed adding magic link registration - a passwordless, secure sign-up that validates email and removes friction. A simple win for both users and the business.

Get started with progressive goals

New users often land on the home feed unsure of where to start. With so many powerful tools - like brand kits, domains, sites, and videos - Studio needed clearer guidance. We introduced Progressive Goals: a step-by-step shelf of personalized recommendations to help users take action. As users grow, these suggestions will evolve with them on their journey.

A home feed for creation & growth

In just a year, our home feed transformed from a simple template gallery into a dynamic hub for everything Studio. We added horizontal shelves to highlight the latest templates, a quick action shelf for fast access to the canvas, and Progressive Goals to guide users through their first steps.

Outcomes

The redesign unlocked deeper systemic work, including the Mobile Design Guild's effort to unify sign-in and authentication across all 10 GoDaddy apps on iOS and Android. It also validated our direction — a 6.2% lift in project creation from the first Progressive Goals experiment led us to develop increasingly personalized recommendations of business tools and features.
